Yorkshire Water

Year 11 chemistry pupils visited the Yorkshire Water treatment plant in Headingley to learn about potable water production. During the trip they considered the different fresh water sources in the region, toured the treatment plant to see the different stages involved in converting fresh water into potable water and discussed the range of matter found in waste water and the necessary steps taken before it is released back into nature.

Pupils were amazed to discover 900 litres of water entered the site every second and could be converted into potable water ready to be used in homes in just 3 hours!
