Summer Book Club Rewards

On Wednesday, the English Department at TSS was delighted to award nearly 30 of our entrants to the Summer Book Club competition in recognition of their incredible efforts to prepare themselves for Year 7. This summer, students were asked to read Relic Hamilton, Genie Hunter an exciting new fantasy adventure novel from Joseph Coelho which deftly blends the two worlds of humans and genies together with disastrous results.

As usual, our upcoming Year 6 students were asked to read sections of the text and complete accompanying ‘Missions’ to help deepen their understanding of the book and the ideas around it. Reflecting the events and themes of the book, this summer saw some of our prospective cohort travelling to Leeds, London and further afar; chronicling their experiences, learning and thoughts. Students submitted a record of their accomplished missions and the best of these submissions were rewarded last Wednesday; the top prize being a place on the Year 7 rewards trip to Leeds.
