First Story Success
15/03/2025

As we come to the end of our First Story writing journey this year, we wanted to share some of our successes. We’ve had lots of pupils come and experience the writing sessions with Andy, hone their craft, work on their editing skills and built their confidence. It was our last session with Andy this week and pupils were very thankful for the expertise (and chocolates) he’s provided!
We’ve also had great competition success this year too with a highly commended entry for Leah in Year 7, ‘Fairy can’t fly. Takes up knitting’ and the National winner was Blake in Year 9 with his humorous entry, ‘Two birds, one stone, big dinner.’ Blake has since also been accepted to the highly sought after summer residential at the Arvon Centre at Lumb Bank. We’re sure Blake will relish this experience and have a brilliant time being inspired in Ted Hughes’ former residence
We will be sending off the entries for our final tiny poems’ competition this week, putting together our final manuscript ready for printing and making final arrangements for our illustration workshop after half-term! We look forward to celebrating with all of our writers, illustrators and First Story friends at our book launch in October.
