Work Experience Week
18/07/2025

For the first time since the pandemic, we have run a work experience week for our Year 10 pupils and to say it has been a success would be an understatement….they have loved every minute of it!
We introduced the idea back in November 2024 and pupils (with support from parents/carers) went out into the big wide world to find placements that interested them or was linked to what they might want to do in the future. This is all part of our wider in-school careers programme (myFuture) which is not just about preparing young people for the world of work but getting them to believe in themselves and be ambitious as to what they want from their life.
They have been out of school all week (Monday 14th July to Friday 18th July 2025) and the range of placements has been extensive both in type and in location. The pupils have tackled; hospitality, construction, office work, legal, sport coaching and many more. Even more impressively they have been spreading their wings and working in Saltaire, Shipley, Bradford, Leeds, Ipswich, and even London!
The feedback we have had from employers, parents/carers, and the pupils themselves has been fantastic and I look forward to seeing our current year 9 get ready for work experience 2026.
I want to say a personal thank you to everyone involved in helping our young people develop and get ready for a successful future. Happy holidays Year 10 and well done, you are a credit to the school and yourselves.
