Travelling to school

We encourage all pupils to travel to and from school independently, either by walking, cycling or by using public transport. While pupils are travelling to school they should adhere to our Ready, Respectful, Safe expectations and remember that they are representing the school.

Buses

Our school is well served by service buses and 5 dedicated school buses.

Timetables for the school buses can be found here https://www.wymetro.com/schools/your-school/a-z-school-finder/?currentLetter=t

Details of how to apply for a Priority Photocard for the school buses can be found here: https://www.wymetro.com/schools/applications/secondary-school-application-form/

Trains

The school is close to Saltaire Station and many pupils travel by train. Details of how to apply for a Education Season Ticket can be found here https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/tickets/educational-season

Cycling to school

We encourage pupils to cycle to Titus Salt School as it is a sustainable means of transport that promotes independence and a healthy lifestyle. There is a large, covered cycle store between the Astro and the Fitness Suite that is covered by CCTV and is locked during school hours. The pupils will however still need to lock their bikes up and we recommend that they do this with a D-lock attaching the frame to the rack.

Safety is also a primary concern and we strongly recommend that pupils follow this advice.

Equipment and clothing

  • Bikes should be road-worthy and fitted correctly
  • A helmet is always worn whilst riding
  • During the winter months a working front and back light should be used
  • Bright and reflective clothing should be worn
  • Pupils should ride on the road or designated cycle paths not the pavement
  • Pupils should ride sensibly at all times and avoid doing any tricks or stunts
  • Pupils should be aware of and follow the highway code
  • If using the canal towpath, remember that pedestrians have priority and cyclists must give way

Training
Cycle training is offered by the school and we suggest that pupils who cycle complete Bikeability Levels 1, 2 and 3.

If you have questions or require further information about cycling at or to Titus Salt School please contact Mr. Trusselle tru@titussaltschool.co.uk
