Year 8 Geography Local Fieldtrip

Our Year 8 pupils headed out into the local area of Saltaire, to see for themselves what they’ve been learning about in their Geography lessons this half term. Our first stop was the River Aire in Robert’s Park to discuss the processes that occur, the landforms that are evident and to see first-hand the impacts of the 2015 Boxing Day floods. They then had a walk down the river to assess the upper course processes in action at Loadpit Beck and compare this section of the river to our first stop. After walking through our local Site of Special Scientific Interest (just behind school!) avoiding the cows, our last stop was in Shipley Glen woods where they had a race to see who could find ten different leaves the quickest and they were able to experience a British Woodland ecosystem. It was a great day and hopefully now they’ll be able to teach you something about geography within our local area!
