King Felipe VI, accompanied by Queen Letizia of Spain, has accepted an invitation from The Queen to pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom on 12 July. Year 8 pupils have produced a video welcoming the King and Queen in their native language with help from Sixth Form Media pupils, Ellie Weedon and Jacob Lawrence who filmed the video.

The video takes in the sights of the beautiful world heritage village of Saltaire including the Titus Salt statue in Roberts Park, Saltaire United Reformed Church, the canal and Salts Mill. Spanish language pupils Lily Driver, Kate Higgins, Joshua Harrison, Shinjiru Eroles, Fraser Buxton, Paige Morley, Aaliyah Akram and Jenna Pilkington were happy to demonstrate their fluency in the Spanish language and the importance of studying a language at school.

Our video has been tweeted by the British Embassy, Madrid, and we are very proud of the fact that our pupil’s linguist expertise has been recognised by the foreign office. The King and Queen of Spain will view the video during their stay at Buckingham Palace.
