Climbing club took a team of twelve climbers to the Bradford Schools Climbing competition at Appleton Academy last Friday and ran out winners.  The team was made up of students from Year 7 and 8.  Climbing on a wall that was brand new to them, the climbers had to complete as many routes as possible in the allotted time, being scored on each climb.  The points for the whole team were then added together so everyone played their part.  It was a great day and a fantastic opportunity for the students to show their climbing and belaying skills.

As well as the competition there were some climbing games including trying to put on a coat whilst on the wall, with a few determined students even managing to zip it up for good measure!  The students also got a go on a “Freedom Climber” a rotating climbing wall (imagine a cross between a hamster wheel and a climbing wall) which was very popular.
