Dylan Thornton, Owen Winter and Matthew De Garis, Year 7; Dylan Ball, Year 8; Summer McAllister, Year 10 and Hayden Peers, Year 11 all qualified to represent their home city after qualifying at the Bradford Schools Cross Country Championship.

Conditions were tough, continual rain had made the course a mud bath but our students weren’t put off; remaining focused and full of determination to put on a valiant show.

Year 7’s Dylan Thornton came 25th with Owen Winter, 27th and Matthew De Garis finishing in 31st place. Running for the Junior Boys, Dylan Ball, came in 33rd. Running the whole course minus her trainers, after losing them in the mud, Summer McAllister came in 33rd for the Intermediate Girls and running the final race of the day, Hayden Peers came 21st for the Intermediate Boys.

Outdoor Education Leader, Mr Trusselle said: “Our students did an amazing job in horrendous conditions. A special mention has to go to Summer who didn’t give up even though she lost her trainers to the boggy terrain just after the starting line!”

Let’s hope for better weather next time.
