Year 7 Mathematics
This year see the launch of Mathematics Mastery, a new approach to learning in Year 7 which has been designed to make student far more confident in the subject
Spanish Exchange in Madrid Year 9 - 17 September 2015
I am inviting students to take part in a visit to Madrid, Spain in May 2016. The visit is open to all students of Spanish in Year 9.
Bewerley Park Year 8 - 16 September 2015
Year 8 Outdoor Residential to Bewerley Park, June 2016
Plans are now being made for the launch of our outdoor education residential to Bewerley Park at Pateley Bridge and we would like to take this opportunity to invite your son/daughter to attend.
Ski Club - 14 September 2015
As part of our Ludus sports programme, we are proposing to continue the recreational Ski Club for all students. This will take place on Tuesdays at XSCAPE in Castleford with the next session scheduled to take place on Tuesday 20 October 2015. The next cycle of visits is as follows:
Beginners Learn to Ski Club - 14 September 2015
As part of our Ludus sports programme and in anticipation of a school ski trip in 2017, we are proposing to run a beginners Learn to Ski Club for all students. This will take place at XSCAPE in Castleford on Tuesday 6 October & Tuesday 13 October 2015.
Geography Trip Year 9 - 14 September 2015
We are intending to take some Year 9 Geography students on a one day optional field trip to Hornsea, Barmston and Flamborough on Monday 12 October (C Band) and Tuesday 13 October (M Band)
Climbing Club - 14 September 2015
We are offering students the opportunity to attend Climbing Club on Tuesdays from 3.00pm until 4.00pm. The club will be run by a fully qualified coach.
Fencing Year 7 - 14 September 2015
We are offering Year 7 students the opportunity to attend Fencing Club on Mondays 3.00pm until 4.00pm. The club is run by a fully qualified coach.
Archery Club - 14 September 2015
We are offering students the opportunityto attend Archery Club on Thursdays from 3.00pm until 4.00pm. The club is run by a fully qualified coach.
Open Evening - 7 September 2015

Staff Training Day - Friday 2 October
As you may be aware, we are holding our Open Evening on Thursday 1 October 2015. The evening commences at 6.00pm and concludes at 8.30pm and involves many students in activities.

Year 10 Newsletter
Welcome to the Year 10 newsletter where we reflect on a very busy term. Many students sat their first GCSE examination and all have been busy with controlled assessments or coursework in most subjects.
We had an extremely successful Parents’ Evening with the best ever attendance and students receiving feedback on how well they’re doing and how they can improve further.

In September we will be changing our name to The Denys Salt Sixth Form in recognition of the work and support that the Salt family have continued to show our school. We feel that it is a fitting tribute to now carry his name.

Year 9 has had a busy term; with Bewerley Park and GCSE Options both in the mix. We were thrilled with the students’ positive and considered approach to choosing their Options and are confident that they will have every success with the subjects they have chosen.

It has been a very busy and productive year in which the students have shown success and achievement in lots of areas. This was particularly highlighted in the recent Key Stage 3 and Sports Awards evenings.
