East Coast

Ninety of our Year 9 pupils headed for the East Coast to see for themselves, some of what they’ve been learning about in their Geography lessons. Stopping at Flamborough Head they were able to witness an array of erosional landforms, including arches, stacks and a wave-cut platform cut from the chalk cliffs by the North Sea over thousands of years. Heading south, the next stop was Barmston to witness the fastest eroding coastline in Europe before finally visiting Hornsea where they were able to see how the local council have attempted to stop this part of the coastline from disappearing any further with a three tiered sea wall and a series of groynes to help build up the beach. Then it was time for that rare treat; seaside fish & chips topped off with an ice cream! A late finish to a school day, but well worth it!
